The Changed Life

Read the text:   2 Corinthians 5:17-21

A Marxist and  a Christian were debating in London’s Hyde Park.  As they presented their philosophies, a shabbily dressed man passed by.  The Marxist said, “Communism can put a new suit on that man.”  The Christian replied, “Yes, but Christ can put a new man in that suit!”  No one else can make people new like Jesus Christ.  How does Jesus make us new?

He gives us a new Master.  The motivating force of the Christian life is Jesus Christ.   When Jesus is Lord, the will of God becomes paramount in life more than anything else.  The Christian will want to please, honor, and obey God and his commandments.  Let man cease to make pleasure and self-gratification his greatest desire, and his life will be changed.

Jesus also gives us a new morality.  Periodically, we hear contemporary lifestyles as a new morality.  However, there is really only one new morality.  That is the morality of the Bible!  All others, are but the old, godless immorality in a new disguise.  The highest ethical standards man has ever known are found in the eternal word of God – the Bible.  It becomes the new life changing standard for the person who follows Christ.

Jesus finally makes us new by giving us new associates or close friends.  Our close friends invariably come from those who share our lifestyle.  Let a person change their lifestyle (master and morals) and he or she will change friends.  However, God graciously furnishes us with brothers and sisters in Christ from among his people when we follow him.

If you are tired of the old life, why not turn to Christ who can make you a new creation and give you a new way of living.  A life that will give victory and abundance in the here and now and in eternity in Heaven!
